Goodbye
With heavy hearts and a tear in our eyes,
After all these years, we must say goodbye.
Please understand we've done all we could,
...If there was anything we could do, you know we would.
I'm sitting right here gently rubbing your ears,
While I talk to you softly, trying to hold back the tears.
The memories you gave us we'll never forget,
Especially the ones of the day we met.
One last hug and one last kiss,
You have no idea how much you'll be missed.
To look in your eyes this one last time...
You tell me it's ok, you know it's your time.
Close your eyes now, and go to sleep,
We'll pray to the Lord your soul he'll keep.
Go in peace now, our friend,
We'll stay right here with you until the end.
Dream of that special day and time,
When we'll meet at the Bridge and all will be fine.

With a soft warm feeling deep down inside.

inspired by a Norse legend
By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.
They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.
For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

THE STORY BEHIND: Back in 2009, I had a phone call from Elisavet Noxon, about a post Marina Ntika uploaded on Facebook, about a stray dog with DM (degenerative myelopathy)
He was found in Thessaloniki and the volunteers there took him under their “wings”. Elisavet told me can you see it? Can you talk with Marina and maybe he can have a life abroad because his future here will be short?
I saw him, I saw his pictures, we fell in love with him and we build a bridge, between the volunteers in Thessaloniki, KAZ and of course Tails From Greece Rescue with Dianne.
He lived two happily years with Candice, his mom who take good care of him, she was and is the best thing ever happened to him!
But now…now is time to say goodbye to him, he lost all his mobility, and cannot support himself at all anymore, he even struggles just to reach the water bowl
.
He lived these past two years with dignity, love, tenderness things that he didn’t know.
This is a Memorium to him, not ever be forgotten.
He will be missed.
Marina, please tag all the volunteers who helped – if they are on Facebook-, unfortunately I do not know them.
A big thank you to all the people, all the volunteers who made the impossible, possible :-)
